Our little individual burner test rig will help us make sure that we don’t burn through the complicated and relatively expensive first combustion system. It allows us to fine tune the spray fuel nozzles to make sure we get the flame stable throughout the entire operating range that each individual nozzle needs to perform.
This week the team has been building the actual flame chamber itself – the air manifold that controls the air inlet is ready. Once the mass flow Venturi meter is in place, we will be able to control the air fuel ratio using an electronic system, and thus conduct the test.
